I have watched nearly all these movies in this franchise on the big screen this happens to be my favorite because of Phillip Seymore Hoffman's performance. When this movie came out on DVD release originally has two discs. Later versions only have one disc on DVD and Blu Ray. When Paramount release this movie and the rest on Blu Ray before the recent release of Fallout Paramount stiffed the fans again! This time no digital download either. I have to pay for the 4k version to get the second Blu Ray disc with extra special features and the digital download too. Best Buy did not carry all the movies at two stores I have visited. This one I was lucky that I found this at their Mentor location. Apparently, Tom Cruise isn't at popular at Best Buy. You can't find his earlier movies at Best Buy, including the discount bins.

The stakes are higher in the third movie of the series as Ethan Hunt gets pulled back into action after becoming an instructor and becoming engaged. Philip Seymour Hoffman seemed to have been an odd choice as a villain at the time but he pulled it off menacingly well. The end of the movie appeared to be a send off to Hunt going off to live his life in wedded bliss but as we all know now that was not the case. The transfer to 4K Ultra is better than the first two versions as well, although not completely up to par.

Paramount has taken this film and given it the 4K treatment, and they do it quite nicely! I do feel slight disappointment that the audio is being presented in Dolby 5.1, as it could have been remixed into Atmos or into 7.1 to match other 4K Blu-Ray films and their high standards of audio. But overall, a great Mission: Impossible film however you look at it!

We have Mission Impossible l,ll, & lll. Our third DVD, Mission Impossible lll was given to us. We later found out that it was badly scratched and would freeze-up while playing. I ordered MI lll from Walmart.com and now we have the complete set. The price was right and I did not need to go to Walmart or any other store and search through rows of DVD's.

This UHD's textural improvements over the Blu-ray are more incremental than they are substantial. On this disc, the improvements brought by the Dolby Vision color enhancement are more substantial than the image's textural qualities. No new extras are included but this three-disc set does carry over all previously released content.

I watched Mission Impossible 4 first then watched part 3. So right off the bat I noticed the picture quality in MI3 is not as sharp as the picture in MI4. The picture quality is still good and the movie is still a classic and for less than $25 I consider this one a great deal and a must for the collection!

Mission Impossible 3
Reviewed on www.ebay.com·haunted_flower
In this third movie, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) proves to us that he's a more mature rogue agent. After all, he's training agents instead of being in the field. However, he gets called in when the only trainee he has ever recommended for field work turns up missing and someone has to go and try to save her. In the meantime, his fellow agents are shocked to find out that he's engaged and spend time inbetween shots fired trying to talk him out of it. This ultimately leads, of course, to his girl getting kidnapped by the bad guys and Ethan has to track down something called the rabbit's foot.\n\nFirst and foremost, what is the rabbit's foot? Does anyone know? Not the writers that's for sure. They give a monologue to their token techie in which he says every time he reads about something and doesn't know what it is that he assumes it to be a doomsday device. That's all we ever hear about it's purpose. Second, on Ethan's mission into the big building to retrieve it, we get to focus on him getting onto the roof but never see him inside the building. They spent time in the cars with the crew as they discuss he's late getting out. What happened to following their agents on their maps on their computer screens with little dots? What happened to the clips planning the mission spliced with the mission being carried out? We're all here to see impossible missions! We got jipped. Now, granted, they only had two hours to plan and execute this one but I'd think tracking their guy to monitor his progress would take about two seconds to prepare.\n\nNow my thoughts on relationships. They really try to sell the relationship between Ethan and Julie. There is a scene where they are on a rooftop and Ethan is trying to tell her he has to take a second trip out of town only a couple days after the first unannounced one and she keeps asking what's wrong in a roundabout way. And Ethan proves to be a terrible liar for an IMF agent. He just stares at her for a long time and she stares back and the scene drags on relentlessly and he asks her to trust him. She says she does and continues to stare back. Then she says, "Tell me it's real" and I just want to break into the next line from the song. They decide to run off and get married in the hospital she works in with toy rings out of a machine. The priest has a slight smile at this, but on the inside you just know he's thinking "How cheap." Then soon after this, Jules gets grabbed and held hostage.\n\nThis movie lies somewhere inbetween the other two films. The first one dealt strictly with missions, gadgets, and double agents. Ethan was suspected to be the double and went rogue and met his handler met him in a restaurant. The second one was all drama, all slow motion and music all the time with the worst disease ever and the cure for it being the main targets. It also focused on a girl being in trouble again that Ethan falls head over heels for within a few minutes of meeting her. His handler was Anthony Hopkins and they met in a darkened room. Now in this movie, Ethan meets his handler once in a 7-11 and then they are always at main headquarters together and you get to watch bureaucracy at work. You see a few missions but they are always distracted talking amongst themselves while working them out. Like it's another day at the office and nothing major is at stake. They throw this relationship that hasn't really developed onscreen to be the big motivating factor and don't explain the foot.

An action movie that will keep you entertained!
Reviewed on www.ebay.com·BgasT8p4R1W@Deleted
This movie is what action movies are all about. It keeps you entertained from start to finish, and it does pretty well in other ways. The story is still pretty good, nowhere near as good as the first one, but it's still good. Some people may say that the save-the-world theme is old, but that's what action movies are about. Give me one James Bond film where 007 didn't do that. Give me any other action movie without that theme. Lord of the Rings had it. Star Wars had it. So does the fact that M:I-2's story revolves around someone saving the world make the movie bad? No way! It's the kind of plot that makes an action movie an action movie. Moving on. Like others have stated, the purpose of action in these movies is not to seem totally realistic, but to be really entertaining and fun to watch. Actually, it still is pretty realistic. What's all this junk about Ethan hitting all his shots (Which is pretty unrealistic, I'll admit)? Didn't any of you watch the Biocyte shootout? How many of his shots hit one of Ambrose's men? Maybe a quarter of them! He's still human and has down-to-earth abilities, not completely unrealistic superhuman stuff that a lot of people criticize. And besides, until the road chase, it is perfectly reasonable that Ethan didn't get shot! Half the time he was behind a wall or lurking in the shadows, waiting for the moment to go Splinter Cell on a patrolling guard. Anyway, sorry I lingered. The acting in this movie is great. Tom Cruise gives Ethan Hunt a very human qualities. Thandie Newton, who plays Nyah Hall, also does the same for her character. Ving Rhames returns to the comic-relief character Luther (the brilliant computer programmer from M:I), and continues to give Luther the comical humor from the first movie. John Polson is introduced as the Australian helicopter pilot Billy Baird, and also gives a lot of humor to the movie. And by the way, both Rhames and Polson do a great job of acting besides the humor, and bring the characters to life very well. Dougray Scott is the villain in this movie, and does it very nicely. He gives Sean Ambrose the kind of madman look and nicely combines it with cold-blooded intelligence to make the character a very good villain. And finally, Anthony Hopkins is Ethan's new leader, and does a very good support role. What about the music? Well, if you've seen the first movie, the music is just the same with a little metallic feel to it. And if you haven't, then don't worry, you won't be dissapointed. This is a great action movie that will keep you entertained throughout the two hours of the film, and does well in areas that some action films don't quite succeed in, despite what others say.

MI:III - high marks for re-watchability
Reviewed on www.ebay.com·ehagge83
I own all three of the "Mission: Impossible" movies and I think that this one is probably the one I'll end up re-watching the most. I saw it in the theater and decided to buy the DVD because the movie is fast-paced, funny, exciting, and definitely never dull. Compared to the first film in the series (which I also really like and have re-watched many times) this film is more constantly engaging; again, never a dull moment. The thing that really makes this one better to me though, is the emotional base that is established with the relationship between Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his fiance, which comes across so well (in my opinion) because of J.J. Abrams' directing, and having a villian (played exceptionally well by Phillip Seymour Hoffman) that is so easy to hate. The one thing that I disliked about this film is that the audience barely gets to know the other IMF agents that Ethan works with on his missions, which is something that was done so well in the first movie. Overall, however, I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone (male or female) who enjoys story and character-driven action movies, and it's worth owning rather than renting because it is very re-watchable.

IMPOSSIBLE MOVIE MADE POSSIBLE!
Reviewed on www.ebay.com·jazevox
TRIPLE AAA+++ movie all the way! Mission Impossible I and II were great movies, its surprising they managed to surpass that and made MI-III totally great as well. Guaranteed action from start to finished. Great storyline. Tom Cruise plays as a secret agent still, accomplising assigned impossible task like a piece of cake. The bad thing about being a secret agent is you have a lot of secrets and that is what Tom Cruise had to endure and keep all his job a secret to his girlfriend then later became wife. He managed to separate his personal life and girlfriend away from his job for awhile until the enemy got away and had find out Tom Cruise real identity, and that is when Tom Cruise wife got involved in his deadly mission/job and was held captive by the enemy. Tom Cruise, now had to do both his mission and rescue his wife on a very constraint time.

MI3 is a big-budget action movie, with all the pros and cons of that genre, plus its own strong and weak points. The big set pieces are here; the huge action sequences and the explosions; the unkillable Hero and the Omnipotent Bad Guy; the exotic locations.\n\nTom Cruise proves he can still act, and still retains tremendous likability on screen, regardless of his bizarre couch-jumping, postpartum mother berating, cult-supporting antics off-screen. His co-stars turn in credible to good performances as well. J.J. Abrams does an amazing job of directing; it's hard to believe he had never directed a feature film before. To pull off a huge big-budget blockbuster like this the first time out of the gate is impressive.\nI thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

This film is practically none stop action, with more than enough story to hold it all together. In fact, this blend is almost perfect.
The film is not slowed down with long boring scenes to describe whats happening. These scenes are there, but shorter, sweeter, and perfectly placed in the 2 hour movie. So you hardly notice that you are being shown a rather good story because the action scenes are plentiful and in the right places.
This is all enough to keep you interested, and keep you informed about whats happening.
There is more action in this movie than in M:i:I and II put together (and a better story).
The 2-disc Collectors Edition boasts 4 hours of bonus features. I must admit, these features supprised me. They were ok. I was expecting 4 hours of rubbish.
These features include; describing action sequences, describing the storys evolution and various interviews to name but a few.
However, all Ive mentioned so far are good aspects (and there are plenty).
But I cant honestly think of any negative coments about this movie. The only thing I would say is that once you've watched it a couple of times, you wont pick it up again for a few months at least.
Its not really an original story, but it is exectuted very well.
Its definately worth a look if you liked the first two (and also if you didnt).

Tom Cruise blasts back into action as IMF agent Ethan Hunt who, with a little help from old friend Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), must take on a deadly new adversary in the shape of Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman)...
This third instalment in the big screen exploits of Mission Impossible is written and directed by J.J. Abrams, personally selected by Tom Cruise following his work on creating series such as Alias and Lost!
Don't be put off by MI-2, this is a return to form for the franchise and then some. Good storyline, solid acting and some brilliant action sequences. Also, we have Philip Seymour Hoffman in quite brilliant form as the baddy of the piece. Excellent stuff.

If you like Tom Cruise add this DVD to your library, BUT...be prepared for a Tom Cruise that 'disappears' ala Helen Mirren as he brings his character to life in an extra-imaginative Tom Clancy like story line, sub-plot within sub-plot, plot twists/surprises that keep you riveted to the screen, way better than the previous Mission Impossible 'stunts' (TC does more than his own share with no double) all done with TC and supporting actors at an uncommonly believeable degree of professionalism, with the film's director on top of it all to the very last detail in an extraordinary effort to obtain the illusive 'Rabbit's Foot' (I'm not telling!). Recommendation: Buy it and be amazed!!!

I loved this movie. I liked the original Mission Impossible better, but it's always hard to beat an original. Tom Cruise is a great actor and did a fantastic job in this one, as he had in the previous two. The thing I liked most about this movie most is that it forced me to watch it a second time to figure out why and when things happened and how different characters influenced the outcome. If you haven't seen it, brace yourself for great stunts, a twisted plot, and entertainment that makes the series worth owning.
